NDIS compliance deadlines for FY27

NDIS compliance deadlines FY27 at a glance: between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027, registered NDIS providers face SIL mandatory registration (1 July 2026, with applications due 1 October 2026), the end of PRODA access for Commission portals (30 September 2026), tighter checks on claims older than 90 days (15 October 2026), a 90-day claim limit (December 2026), budget reductions at plan renewal (1 February 2027) and new framework planning (1 April 2027). Each date is listed below, with what it means and what to do.

Last updated 14 October 2026. Dates come from the NDIS Commission and the NDIA where they publish one, and from the Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Act 2026 where they do not. Some dates may still move, so check the linked sources before you act.

Why NDIS compliance deadlines FY27 matter more than usual

The 2026-27 financial year is the busiest compliance year the NDIS has had. The Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 20 August 2026 and starts a run of changes to registration, claiming, record keeping and plan budgets. Several of these have already taken effect. Others land before Christmas.

For providers, the practical risk of the NDIS compliance deadlines FY27 is simple. A missed deadline can mean you have to stop delivering a support, a claim is rejected, or an audit finds gaps in your records. Knowing the order of events lets you plan staffing, billing and documentation ahead of each one.

1 July and 1 October 2026: SIL mandatory registration

From 1 July 2026, anyone delivering SIL must be registered, and registered providers must meet the new SIL Practice Standards. Existing unregistered SIL providers, including sole traders, had until 1 October 2026 to submit a valid application for registration group 0138 (Assistance with supported independent living). According to the NDIS Commission transition pathway, providers who applied by that date can keep delivering SIL while their application and audit are assessed. If an application is refused, the provider can no longer deliver SIL.

What to do: If you applied, engage an approved quality auditor now and keep your evidence current. If you missed the date, speak to the Commission straight away. Our SIL mandatory registration checklist walks through the evidence auditors ask for.

30 September 2026: PRODA ends, myID and RAM take over

The NDIS Commission has confirmed that PRODA can no longer be used to access its portals once the transition period ends on 30 September 2026. Providers now sign in with a Strong myID and manage staff access through the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). Read the Commission guide to changing from PRODA to myID and RAM for the steps.

What to do: Confirm that every authorised person in your organisation can log in, and that worker screening checks still work. Record who holds each delegation.

15 October and December 2026: claiming gets stricter

Two claiming changes arrive close together. From 15 October 2026, the NDIA applies extra integrity checks to claims submitted more than 90 days after a support was delivered. The NDIA says it may hold these claims for up to 28 days and ask for more evidence before paying.

From December 2026, the time limit itself changes. Providers will have 90 days from delivery to claim, down from two years. The NDIA lists this under changes from December 2026, and the Act reportedly sets 1 December 2026 as the start. Late claims survive only if the NDIA CEO accepts exceptional circumstances. We cover the detail in how long NDIS providers have to submit a claim.

What to do: Clear any old unclaimed sessions before December. Move to a fortnightly or monthly claim cycle, and flag unbilled support at 60 days so nothing slips past 90.

27 August 2026 onwards: seven-year records, fraud offences and inducements

Under the Act, providers must keep claim records for seven years, up from five. The new fraud offences are reported to start on 27 August 2026, and the ban on inducements (gifts, referral rewards and similar incentives) on 20 November 2026. The NDIA page does not publish start dates for these, so confirm them against the Act (C2026A00066) before you change policy. Our guide to NDIS record-keeping requirements covers retention in more detail.

What to do: Update your retention policy to seven years, and review any referral incentives, gift cards or discounts offered to participants or referrers.

1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027: budget reductions

The NDIA states that support budget reductions begin on 1 October 2026 when a participant’s plan is reassessed or a new plan is approved, and on 1 February 2027 when a plan is renewed. Budgets only change when the next plan starts, so existing plans are not cut overnight. Secondary sources report the cuts as 50% for participation supports and 10% for daily living skills, but check the Support Determination 2026 for the exact categories.

What to do: Model revenue by participant plan end date. Make sure service agreements allow for scope changes when a new plan lands, and keep goals-linked documentation current.

1 April 2027 and beyond: new framework planning

The last of the NDIS compliance deadlines FY27 is the start of new framework planning, which begins transitioning participants aged 18 and over from 1 April 2027, moving plans towards functional assessment. This is a policy timeline rather than a fixed legal commencement, and the rules are still in consultation. Just beyond FY27, mandatory registration is due to expand in July 2027 to personal care, daily living supports and supports in closed settings, so providers in those areas should begin preparing now.
